This 1966 Ford Custom 500 was brought to Canada from Texas and transformed into an awesome sleeper build! From the top, the car has a factory original look. Texas patina is present and the car sits on steel wheels with hubcaps. However a look under the hood, and under the car reveals a whole different story. The body was off the frame and the entire undercarriage was cleaned and painted. A 428 cubic inch engine, built by Don Palmer was dropped in the car. It is stroked to 455 cubic inches with a forged crank and rods. It also has a Dual Quad intake with 2 Holley Carburetors, MSD electronic ignition, and headers. The car also received a 4-speed toploader transmission and a Ford 9 inch rear end. The rear end is a Traction-Loc with a 3.50 gear set and 31-spline axles.
The body and paint are showing some blemishes and patina, but are overall very solid. It is believed that this car has mostly original paint. The chrome and stainless trim on the car are in good shape. All the glass is excellent with no chips or cracks. The mostly original interior is complete and in good shape. The driver’s seat is showing wear.
Driving this car on the street is an awesome experience! It handles the road very well and is easy to drive. It has lots of power when you want it and 4 gears to pull through. A very cool example of a “sleeper’ muscle car!
